The Three Muses Challenge - Ancestors

I always feel sad when I look at this picture.  Here are two young people setting out on a life together and in ten years they were both dead.  Nevertheless, my grandfather began a long and prolific branch of the McDonnell family tree with five generations since his death.

    I can understand your feelings, Marie, while I was creating my piece I had the same sadness although I knew my Grandfather for a short time. Beautifully designed piece, one to treasure!

    A beautiful tribute, Marie. It is sad to think their lives were so short. Don't you wonder if she could take a deep breath in that waist-cincher? You've created a lovely heritage page for your children and grandchildren to treasure!

    Oh this is really sad.
    This must have been hard for your father and your aunt.
    And it is wonderfull that they are not forgotten.

    This is so precious, I love how you created it. What a sad story indeed! Amazing that their child lived such a long life, almost like he lived some for them too!

    What a wonderful picture and story Marie...I love what you have done with it...it makes it all the more precious. Stories like this just grab my heart...I don't know why but I have always loved personal histories. Amazing what our ancestors had to go through to get us here.

    Such tragedy for such a young beautiful couple. So Sad. So many deaths from childbirth, and the two small children were fortunate to have grandparents to care for them. Wonderful presentation for this theme, Marie.

    Thank you for sharing your family history with us. I love genealogy and have traced my family lines back to the 1600's in England. We all have precious history and it couldn't be saved and shared in a more precious way. Hugs, Diane
