Indigenous people have suffered from the onrush of "civilization". Their traditional way of life has disappeared. Their cultures have been lost. The sad face on the man in the picture inspired me to think deeply about this subject, hence the barbed wire and the sea of words, just words around the picture, and the cave paintings which tell of better days. The man looks like a native American but the story has been repeated all over the world, especially in Australia.
ENLARGE PICTURE TO GET A BETTER VIEW OF THE SAD FACE.

The colors and meaning behind your creation is so awesome. The twining barb and the cave prints lend such an authenticity to your entry ~ I am in awe. Mine took a much more whimsical twist ~ but yours ~ WoW!

ReplyDeleteHe's so sad and wistful too, Marie. Your post is so on target. It was a thrill to watch the opening of the Olympics in Canada and to see their indigenous people recognized. Beautiful! Hugs, Terri xoxo

ReplyDeleteyou've made a wonderful statement here...the colouring and lighting is fantastic and it fits perfect with the frame!
ReplyDeleteI'll pass the compliments on to Katie. She is a wonderful photographer... and all at 15 or 16 years old. My first husband and I have known each other since we were 12... so it just didn't make sense to give up that friendship when we split... The marvel is that both of his ex-wives and his current wife all get along great! We laugh and hug and cry together... it's really very nice, especially for all the kids and grandkids.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous interpretation Marie! I have to admire your knowledge and insight.
ReplyDeleteGreat collage! Love all the elemnts you used!
