I painted my own inferior version of "Starry Starry Night" digitally, using the oils feature of ArtRage software. I added the old cityscape by Christina Renee (altered) and the bar and brush from Gypsy Girl at SBG. The self portrait of Vincent van Gogh was Googled. The words are, of course, from Don McLean's great song, "Vincent".
I am always amazed what you manage to achieve with Art Rage Marie and this piece is no exception. Great theme and a fantastic piece you have done for it!!
ReplyDeleteBeautifully created, Marie. Love your choice!
ReplyDeleteMarie, this composition is superb in every way! Your creative skills are amazing! Hugs, Terri xoxo
ReplyDeleteAaahh Vincent !!!
ReplyDeleteI have to tell you a story about me and Vincent.
A long LONGGGG time ago...I was still in school, when our teacher gave us an assignment to write a essay about a Dutch painter. We also had to add images at the essay.
I choose Vincent and learned so much about his sad life and started to write and write.
When that was done I had to search for images. Internet was in thoose years no option LOL
So ...what i did...was CUT out images of my fathers encyclopedia hahaa.
OOWWWW Marie...Can you imagine how mad he was when he find out !!!
But...my essay was TOP !!
xxx Rian
Well considering the story about cutting up an ENCYCLOPEDIA....I think she wins the award for best comment so I cannot top that ...but your work truly tops everything that is for sure.
ReplyDeleteOh Vincent Van Gogh is one of my favorites as well Marie. This is such a fantastic tribute to his art, emotion and his very special use of color- you truly captured his essence here. Love the added rustic elements as well. Standing O from me! I would love to continue with this theme in future "Musings"...
ReplyDeleteF A B U L O U S, Marie!
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful Marie...I have alway felt a special connection with Van Gogh I don't know why (I think it's an ear thing)anyway this is just gorgeous...love the lyrics too!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are good!!! Stunning.
ReplyDeleteKeep well, Chris
I think that in 50 years time if the same challenge was put forward someone will use 'Marie-ozstuff!!!' Spectacular painting, love the 'frame' too - a real original!!
ReplyDeleteWOW, now THAT'S impressive!!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this. Van Gogh has been one of my favorite artists since I was in sixth grade. The Detroit Institute of Arts had a special exhibition of his works, and we were able to take a class trip to see them. It was so wonderful. I saw his bedroom painting in real life! I'll never forget it.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant Marie, just brilliant!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful piece you've made.
The comments above have said it all. xx
This is just so well done that I couldn't resist telling you how much I love it. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful art piece and a lovely tribute to one of my favourite artists.
ReplyDeleteThis is an awesome piece Marie. your work just is always so knock out i love it

hugs June
YOUR ALL-TIME BEST, Marie! The colors, the choice of components, the framing....all come together in a glorious tribute to the master! What a glorious Starry Night!
ReplyDeleteOzzie after studying your picture once more I just had to return and comment on the amazing current of polarization between your (absolutely amazing) and very peaceful Starry Night and the edgy almost anger of VanGogh's self portrait. It reminded of O.W's quote about true art reflecting more the artist then the subject.
ReplyDeleteAnyway I adore your background the buildings especially are amazing...have a banner day!!!
Marie, I am always amazed at your astronomical talent in making gorgeous art using digital images. I wonder if I will ever learn to use the tools I have. The colors here and the starry, starry night scene are phenomenal. Beautiful. I won't have time for 3M today but i wanted you to know how much I enjoyed seeing your work.
ReplyDeleteFabulous...love the song too!
ReplyDeleteIt may be different but I wouldn't describe it as inferior, Marie. Lovely work!
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely Marie. Do you watch Dr Who? Did you see the episode where he went back in time and met Van Gogh? It was wonderful. Shall I tell you what happened?
ReplyDeleteGorgeous sample piece of one of my favorites, Marie! This week's challenge is one of the best ever. It's like a little mini art appreciation course. I am having so much fun finding new artists and remembering why the masters like Van Gogh and Degas have inspired me for so many years!
ReplyDeleteI love VanGoghs Paintings, you made a wonderful example.
