Apologies to all my blog friends for being missing in action - and missing from the comments lists - over the past couple of weeks. My son and his wife are visiting from England and, as this is a rare event, I have been very preoccupied. Never fear, I will be back with my Muses challenge tomorrow (Wednesday)!!

I can't wait to get back into the swing of things in a week's time.

Sea travel is not for me. Because of sea-sickness and many misadventures, not to mention a general aversion to "cruising", it is something I don't want to repeat!

Three Muses Challenge - Buttons and Bows

Sunday Postcard - Roses

My "model" is my granddaughter at age 18 months. (She's three now). Photos and painting by me. Words come from the title of an old song the origin of which I don't know.

Art Creations Friday - Fabric background

A paper doll! Apart from the Suzee Que face (altered), the legs (Fiddlette) and scanned newspaper, everything else was cut from the lovely textured fabric background. Thankyou, ladies at Art Creations.

Theme Thursday - Men and hats

I believe "A dedicated follower of fashion" is the title of a song. The man's face comes from Moonlight Journey and I have painted his body in. The newspaper background is from Maya at Scrapbookgraphics and the old film strip is from Irene Alexeeva at Scraporchard.

My picture is inspired by the touching lyrics of “Eleanor Rigby” by the Beatles. The image is a digital stamp by 500ml. The window, tree branches, bottles and outer frame are by Lorie Davison at Scrapbook Graphics and the papers used in the background are by Catherine Designs and Createwings Designs.

Theme Thursday - Bright Colours

I got a bit carried away with bright colours! Everything in this postcard sized piece is by me, except for the Suzee Que face (at Flickr) which has been greatly altered.

The words are from the song "It's a Wonderful World" most famously sung by Louis Armstrong.

The Three Muses Challenge - TIME (or the rebirth of Venus Higgins)

This is a true story and everyone knows I don't tell fibs! My niece, Venus Higgins, lives in a world of fantasy based on her love of Roman and Greek mythology. Her name was originally "Gladys" but she changed it to "Venus" to honour one of her heroines. She loves to create re-enactments of famous paintings inspired by mythology hence this one which she calls "The Re-birth of Venus Higgins".
No, that is not a lump in my cheek. It's my tongue.!!

I painted most of the picture except for the face and body (altered by adding an unlikely head of hair and a red leotard) which is a Flickr-free-to-use image. I Googled the giant clam.
