One of your very best Marie ! I'ts very well done; the perspective and the pieces !! I have totally no intelligence of to play chess but of living (I hope) all the more. ****** (Can I give you perhaps a tip ?? When you draw under the chesspieces a little shadow...you create a little more depth. I think you know that i only will help you and that i DO NOT mean it disgraceful !! ) ***** Hugs Rian xx
Oh, Marie, this is gorgeous --- and it sent me to Omar Khayyam for the quote it brought to mind: "We are no other than a moving row of magic shadow shapes that come and go 'round, with the sun-illumined by the lantern held in midnight by the Master of the show, but helpless pieces of the games he plays upon this checkerboard of nights and days. hither and thither moves and slays, and one by one back in the closet lays." Of course there's more to it, but I won't bore you with the rest!
I'm enthralled with your board game of life, Marie! Beautifully done. And after reading Bev's quote from Omar Khayyam, I'm enchanted! Beautiful interpretation! Hugs, Terri xoxo
PS I'll be thinking about your BarBQue on Christmas day! LOL!!!!
my goodness lady, you did an excellent job blending the people on top of the chess pieces! this is just amazing. and...i've used that quote when trying to explain a situtation to my youngest son this past summer!! bravo marie, this is great.
Such fun! What an amazing card. I have to think about which "piece" I should move next! grins. BTW, I lost a day somewhere, that was why I had mine done so early...you probably thought I fell out of bed...lol.
OMG Marie, I have to agree with all the praise in the previous comments on this piece!! It's sooo creative and clever. I simply love your chess pieces!!! You are such a brilliant artist Marie, wonderful work!!!
Stunning! Love your wonderful chess pieces though I am sure the answer to the question is "no"... We always have a choice.... Mind you. it's a bit early in the morning here for deep philosophical questions..:o)
Oooooh, this one gives me a smile like the Cheshire Cat Marie, your artwork is fantastic, your sense of humour is wicked and at it's very best, and I am totally blown away by the whole piece. I would certainly hang this on my wall. Applause of the loud variety from my corner.
Marie, your chessboard is so beautiful! I like the vintage characters and colours very much, and the quote makes one think. - Thank you so much for your comment on my blog, and thank you for the silly poem! I love it, it made me laugh (what a good start for a day), and I think it could be a great starting point for a piece of art.
This is absolutely stupendous Marie and so beautifully done but for some reason Blogger won't let me enlarge images at the moment so I can't see it in its full glory. Applause!!
Oh my!! I burst out laughing when I got here Marie... it's brilliant. There may well be a deeper meaning, and if so, I apologise. I just love this and think you're brilliantly creative!
Super!
