Apologies in advance to all those in the Northern Hemisphere who are FREEZING! Can't get away from the heat here in Oz.
I painted the background (beach huts Googled). The girl is an unclothed image from Maya at Scrapbookgraphics - dressed up and dressed down. I painted on the two swimsuits and used my background to take the two "photos". The waves in the photos are by Ruth Davis at E-Scape and Scrap.
How much fun is this, bravo!!!
ReplyDeleteYour work rock Marie.
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely perfect. Fantastic design and idea.
As beautifully thought out as it was created...what a great "old vs. new" presentation for this theme. Perhaps there is a middle road for the bathing suits??:))To think those olden days ones were generally made out of wool!! Yikes. Hugs and Happy New Year, Marie!
ReplyDeleteI love your take on this theme Marie- great images old and new. Happy New Year to you!
ReplyDeleteI think the 2010 one for this morning then the 1910 suit for this afternoon, such a changeable day! Great take on the theme once again, Marie!! Do have a fabulous New Year!!! (I see Ann is coming to NZ, too)
ReplyDeletelove how you painted the swimsuits... and the saying is just so true!!! i´m not yearning for the "good old times" (except the better music maybe, hehe)...
ReplyDeleteGreat fun! Today in the UK it is cold, grey and miserable. It snowed last night but was all washed away by the rain this morning. How I would love to be in a bikini on the beach this morning!!
ReplyDeleteI don't envy you those hot winds and hideously high temperatures, but wow Marie, if this is what it inspires you to create it can't be all bad. This is one of those of yours that made me catch my breath because it's mind blowingly fantastic. The colours are super, your painting talent just grows and grows and those ladies just go to show nothing much changes except the fashions. Thank you for brightening up a thoroughly weather miserable day in the UK.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea and beautifully done as usual Marie. I guess if I followed your advice here I'd turn off the central heating and go back to chopping wood.... Brrr. I do love the good old days, but modern times do have their advantages too... Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea and a perfect design, dear Marie!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you!
How much do I love this?! Plus, it's so funny seeing a summer scene when I'm looking at over a foot of snow right now outside my window!! I love this something old, something new :)
ReplyDeleteOh, how I'm longing for "beach" weather right now. Last night the thermometer in the car read that it was 12 degrees Farenheit. (Not sure how that would convert!?!) And the windchill was below O degrees! Thanks for reminding me about sunshine and warm seabreezes, Marie!!! Happy, Happy 2010! Hugs, Terri xoxo
ReplyDeletethis is great! love your sense of humor!
ReplyDeleteFabulous as always Marie and a lovely sight as, at the moment, it's freezing here and all I can see out of my window is grey skies and drizzle!
ReplyDeleteWow, really cute and so cleverly done!!!! Love it!!! Yes, it is freezing here in Maryland too!
ReplyDeleteWould love to visit Australia one day!
Great digital work and wonderful interpretation.

Marie, I'm yearning for your warm weather right now as I watch the snow fall outside my window! Your bikini babe is just the thing to warm me up. I told you I'd make it back.

You got this SO right Marie - absolutely fab and fun!! Love your art! =)
ReplyDeleteOh wow, this is lovely and certainly warm! You can't even know how much I miss HOT days ;-)) So thank you so much this eye candy - I can even feel the warmth!
ReplyDeleteVery cute piece, Marie...I love your sense of humor with it. LynnF
ReplyDeleteWhat a great piece, Marie, so cleverly made! And beautiful, too! Your quotation puts it so right: not everything was better in the old days. I wish you a Happy New Year! If I knew how to do it, I would send you a container full of snow and cold air from my back yard.
ReplyDeleteNice polka dot bikini! Yes, how did we ever survive without aircon!
ReplyDeleteI like all of yous beautiful arts!
ReplyDeletesunshine and happiness...so bright and vibrant..I adore her bikini..wish it was summer!

ReplyDeleteWishing you all the best for 2010!
love this very funny so many women will want to look like this now as I was in the supermarket today and there was the usual deluge of diet foods and exercise machines!! Happy New year to you and thanks for your great comments on my blog...
ReplyDeleteI have been looking and looking and cannot find your top hat and tails postcard...I thought I saw it on someone's blog roll but for the life of me it doesn't show on your blog (to me, anyway). Not even in older posts...odd....sigh. Hugs, Gayle.
ReplyDeletefantastic
ReplyDeleteI am having the same problem as Gayle. The Top Hat does not appear. I thought last night that you may have been in an edit mode and it wasn't showing for that reason. But I have tried several times more and it just isn't there. This 3 Muses post is your most recent one.
ReplyDeleteI guess I'd have to turn off the heat to get a taste of the good old days. LOL! How I wish I was somewhere warm right now. It's freezing here in New York. Love this fun piece of yours! Wishing you a happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteLove this card Marie, but I want to see your tophat too!
ReplyDeleteCindy :)
Thank you for warming me up, Marie! I love these colors and the images are darling.
ReplyDeleteGreat! Have a great 2010!
ReplyDeleteOh, what fun. I love your take on the theme and the humour in it. It's great!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. It can bee too warm. Something in between my -10C and the temperature you are having in Oz would be perfect!
ReplyDeleteLove your piece!
