The Three Muses Challenge - Birds of a Feather

 
My feathered friend is a "kookaburra" or giant kingfisher.  They abound in my neighbourhood and, even if we don't always see them, we hear their loud laughter from miles away.  Their name is from the Australian aboriginal people who have taken the sound of the laughter (koo koo koo kaa kaa kaa) and made a word from it.

  4. It seems anything we see here that has to do with outdoor Australia is accompanied by the sound of distant kookaburras, so it's fun to see one of the fellas close up! Thanks for sharing this guy with us, Marie!
