Solitude is important to me but it seems to come in very small doses! The quote, from Henry David Thoreau, fits me to a tee.
Image (greatly altered) is from Suzee Que at Flickr-free-to-use. Background papers by Joanne Brisbois of Oscrap Designs and Fiddlette of Scrapartist.
I can relate to that quote, too, Marie! Perfect image, (her expression says it all) blending, colours, love the b/g, altogether an outstanding card!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant blending and layering on this one, Marie. The color and image you have chosen are lovely. I've often heard being alone should never be confused with being lonely, and it's so true. I, too, treasure my solitude, (heaven knows I've had over 30 years of widowhood to practice it), and I find I'm quite content to putter about the house alone.
ReplyDeleteMarie ~
ReplyDeleteI love visiting your blog ~ not only for the lovely art (which is in abundance) but because it feels like home ~ I love it here! Blessings to you! I will be posting my link soon ~ but I think you may have already seen it!
I love your quote Marie- we all need our quiet times to think, rest and plan; to be able to be our best to those we love. Beautiful colors and layers in this piece!
ReplyDeleteI just LOVE this...your colors are my favorites and that face!!! Ohhhhhh soooo captivating...also that quote is perfect, isn't it?? A very interesting man...yet so alone...LOL Sorry, going on too long, I LOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteLovely woman- like the contrast of her dark, sombre yet secure features with the sea-green colours and layered blending...that sentiment is one of my favourites by Throreau, I agreed with him when I first read it in High School long-ago-and-far-away, and agree with him just as much now...a necessity, not a luxury to have in life...
ReplyDeletegreat quote Marie!!! we all need some solitude once and a while!!! I also love the shades and tints in your piece....wonderful work!!!
ReplyDeleteOh Marie I´ve missed my words. Your work is outstanding. Fantastic colors and design. She is really beautiful.
ReplyDeleteOh Marie...this is so elegant and beautiful, I'm speechless! And the quote is so appropriate. Too many are afraid of solitude, but it's quite a gift...just like your art! LynnF

ReplyDeleteThis is a real stunner - as always. I'm all behind on my blog browsing this week (too many to look at on One World One Heart), so just caught up on your other artworks. Love your comment about the lady and the hockey stick!!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard this quote before, but I love it!! And I love how you've expressed it--great piece!!
ReplyDeleteMe again! Thanks for explaining the meaning of solitude. I confused the word with lonelines. I plan solitude because I feel so much better when I have time on my own. It gives me more room for others.
ReplyDeleteWonderful quote and fantastic collage.
ReplyDeleteThe mood of your collage fits beautifully with your quote. It Is a lovely quote, by one of my favorite authors, though, as a true extrovert, one to which I have some difficulty relating. As I get older, however, I realize how much beauty there is in solitude.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for placing my link to Have a HeART on your blog, Marie. I want you to know how much your irrepressible spirit has inspired me over the past 2 years, and how much I treasure our friendship.
