Nowadays, keeping up with the Joneses means spending money that isn't there to buy "label" clothes. I had to smile when I saw today's image because it seems that keeping up with the Joneses a hundred years ago meant throwing layer upon layer, silly hats, froth and bubble at some poor unsuspecting child!! Therefore, I was forced to make a few changes just to make her feel better, although she looks as happy as the cat!
The image is from "Take a Break" at Flickr (thanks to the lovely ladies at ACF for sending us the link). The background is by Lorie Davison at SBG and the metal seat is by Irene Alexeeva at Scraporchard. Cat Googled.
love your art! your saying is great!
ReplyDeleteMarie, what a wonderful piece. I do hope I'll find a bit of time tomorrow to work on ACF myself. Thanks for visiting and for the comments on my GD's and my Paris entries. She's not ordinarily much interested in art. However, last summer she spent 6 weeks in a home-stay visit to the south of France and visited Paris. Besides, it is boring for a young woman used to 24/7 activities at college to be with her computer-bound grandparents for this long.
ReplyDeleteOh My Gosh!!!
ReplyDeleteHow clever are you, I LOVE this little lady!!!
Excellent re-creation of this little girl, Marie. I could use her hat, it is minus 32 celcius right now, going down to minus 48 c, with wind chill by morning. The red is beautiful and her little dress is really nice. Hugs, Gayle.
ReplyDeleteOMG this is brilliant.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing idea. Love the design. Gorgeous.
This is great. She definitely looks good in red. I actually live on The Jones's old summer/fall estate. I am just one of many houses but their gardens are to die for. I bet you didn't realize there really were Jones's.
ReplyDeleteThis is fabulous! You have managed to make this cute little girl even cuter! Great expression. Cheers!!
ReplyDeleteThis looks absolutely awesome!
ReplyDeleteLOL, Marie, this is to fun and cute for words!! Love your take on the picture, she's dressed to kill alright, with her lion as her most leathal weapon :D Thanks for making me laugh, you're wonderfully creative as always Marie!!

ReplyDeleteYou really "spiffed" her up, Marie! I've long ago run out of adjectives to describe the magic you work with your mighty mouse and your Art Rage program, so I'll just have to use one that I've used again and again....BRILLIANT!

ReplyDeleteSo fun and clever Marie!
ReplyDeleteMarie, you are so good in drawing !! Every time you amaze me HOW you can change the look from a image and finding unique quote's.
ReplyDeleteThis one brings me so much joy.
Marie, I forgot to tell you I think the addition of the cat is so perfect. This looks like a cat person, not a dog person.
ReplyDeleteOww what a great piece;o)
ReplyDeleteThis is FAB! I love the image you have created. The colors are great as well.
ReplyDeleteI like what you've done with her Marie! Very creative idea. And the words about cats are funny. Also, for some strange reason, even though I had seen your Sunday Postcard Art entry in my blog list view, I still can't see/find it on your blog. (I'm assuming I'm the only one having this problem, but I have no idea why!) I liked it too.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure I've already said this...but I love your pics. I'm going to take this up this year...can't wait!
ReplyDeleteA wonderful picture! I like red shoes :-)
ReplyDeleteAhh what a kind person you are to redress this little lady, and in such lovely bright colours too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous piece. I am going to have to try this challenge really soon. Just need to do my ground work first :) Thank you for your kindness :)
