This week at Take a Word the challenge is STEAMPUNK! The image (altered and coloured) is from e-vint.com and all the bits of steampunk are from Maya at Scrapbookgraphics, Finecrafted Designs and Marta van Eck both from Mischief Circus. (Finecrafted Designs is no longer with Mischief Circus).
Collage Obsession Challenge - Mask
The Geisha is from a collection at e-vint.com. The photo was coloured and altered by me. Masks are from Google Images.

Morning at the Cemetery
I visited a local cemetery recently on a sunny winter's morning in a suburb of Perth, Western Australia. There are hundreds of kangaroos living in the beautiful parkland. They help to keep the lawn under control by grazing and they are sleek and healthy. The sad part of the story is that Perth is a rapidly growing city. New suburbs are popping up everywhere and this means that the habitat of kangaroos is being destroyed. They find themselves trapped in pockets of semi-undeveloped land such as golf courses, some parks and this cemetery. CLICK ON PICTURE TO ENLARGE (IT'S WORTH IT).

The Three Muses Challenge - WEDDINGS
This week the theme at the Muses is WEDDINGS. Read the lyrics of the song and that will tell the sad story of this poor bride-to-be, left at the altar.
Flowers and background paper by Lauren Bavin. Image from Kubivet overpainted to look like a bride. Googled stool and archway from Alexeeva.

The Three Muses Challenge - Wheels
This week Ann has challenged us to include wheels in our artwork. Mine is a step back from reality. I made the pathway to the stars and added a background and image from Itkupilli and clouds from Createwings Designs. The stars came from my computer software.

Take a Word Challenge - Turquoise
This week at Take a Word the theme is the colour Turquoise. I decided to take an art journal style approach to the picture which is a mix of ACTUAL (whoohoo) drawing (the face and rose hat doodled on to grungy cardboard) and digital painting in artrage. All my own work.

The Three Muses Challenge - Roosters/Hens
I found this vintage, beautifully coloured rooster at Graphics Fairy and decided he doesn't need a lot of colour and clutter. The background is an altered, scanned dictionary page to which an Itkupilli background has been blended.

Take a Word Challenge - Mother and Child
It's Mother's day (at least in the US, Australia and possibly New Zealand!) so our tribute is to all the Moms/Mums in the world. This lovely vintage image was found on Google Images. The background and heart are from Createwings Designs.

The Three Muses Challenge - FAMOUS
This week at the Muses the theme is FAMOUS. I found this wonderful photo of Charlie Chaplin and dog on Google. I have coloured the original black and white picture and grunged it up a tad. The background is by me (another dictionary page also grunged up) and the movie elements are from a kit by Kubivet (long since extinct as a designer).

Take a Word Challenge - PLANTS AND INSECTS
This week at Take a Word the theme is PLANTS AND INSECTS. This beautiful pear painting and the bumble bee are from Graphics Fairy (free of charge) and I made the background from my old dictionary, rearranging the order and adding some overpainting. Simple but effective.

The Three Muses Challenges - Stamp People
This week Ann has challenged us to create Stamp People. I found this great stamp featuring Tennessee Williams to start with then a googled, beige suited model which fitted the stamp picture. I then got a bit carried away finding posters of his many plays and borrowed the headings. Believe it or not, these are not ALL his plays (there are more). Grungy background from Lorie Davison. Everything else from Mr Google.

This week's theme for Take a Word is Family Albums. I have used a photo of my grandparents (shown in sneak peek) and altered it more than somewhat. Photo from a family album with added grunge brushes and some overpainting.

The Three Muses Challenge - Book Cover
Googled images and Art Deco frame. Background by me.
I chose a vintage magazine cover theme in these two pieces. The lady in the background was Googled. The lady in the foreground is made from a Googled body and a picture of a silent movie star whose name escapes me at the moment (Louise Brooks?). Good fun. Thanks, Bev.
