Morning at the Cemetery

I visited a local cemetery recently on a sunny winter's morning in a suburb of Perth, Western Australia.  There are hundreds of kangaroos living in the beautiful parkland. They help to keep the lawn under control by grazing and they are sleek and healthy.  The sad part of the story is that Perth is a rapidly growing city. New suburbs are popping up everywhere and this means that the habitat of kangaroos is being destroyed.  They find themselves trapped in pockets of semi-undeveloped land such as golf courses, some parks and this cemetery.  CLICK ON PICTURE TO ENLARGE (IT'S WORTH IT).

  1. I just can't imagine looking out the window and seeing kangaroos hopping by--I know for you it is common, but seems so exotic to me. Wildlife is being crowded out all over the planet. It's sad--too many people taking up too much space with their giant houses and malls etc.

  2. This is such a beautiful spot, Marie. I hope the cemetery folk continue to give them a happy home!
