Take a Word Challenge #23 - Umbrella

Unfortunately, in my part of the world, umbrellas are seldom required.  Our weather patterns are breaking records in every direction - hottest summer on record, hottest first month of autumn, driest winter and so on.  My take on umbrellas is a little bit sombre.
The wonderful image of a farmer from another time is from Wikimedia Commons (copyright free).  The news clip is from a free newspaper headline generator (recoloured).  Other bits and pieces from Createwings Designs and Catherine Designs, both at After Five Designs.
Please accept my apologies for not keeping up with my comments recently.  I have been very busy helping two daughters and their children due to illnesses (none serious - just inconvenient).  Hopefully things will be back to normal very soon.

  1. What is this deja vu all over again this is just as great as when I left it this morning...on another channel. Seriously it is really great I adore that poor tree trying to grow up that great background...the mushrooms and his face that wonderful annoyed looking face...manificent as always my dear!!!

  3. It is wonderful how you have gathered and assembled everything for your theme collage, Marie. The image of the man with the umbrella is excellent as is your layout. Love it.

  4. I love your collage. Except I am not desperately seeking rain. But, one must be careful what we wish for.

  6. Definitely an excellent example of "every picture tells a story," Marie, brilliant piece of art, love it! After our NZ weather every evening on TV they show the OZ main centre temperatures & I see yours never seems to drop below 30!

  10. A powerful piece, Marie - it is so hard when nature throws these difficult times at us and we dream for something else, but I do think that it is good that humankind cannot control everything! I hope you get rain soon.

  12. I LOVE those 'paper' mushrooms Marie, and the gorgeous layered background. OK, so 'yer man' looks a little jaded, but the same cannot be said for the rest of your collage .. it's perfect. Gorgeous piece.

  15. Wonderful piece. What a handsome farmer! I'll have to look into wikimedia commons. I didn't know about it. When I was a girl a great aunt gave us parasols from Japan and told us not to get them wet. They were not umbrellas, as in for rain. Today we are getting TOO much rain. It's coming down in buckets. I hope it doesn't flood away our new grass seedlings.

I love how you are able to combine different elements and make them all look like they have always been together.
