The Three Muses Challenge - Blackbirds

First of all, I apologize to all my blog friends for not keeping up with my comments this week. My brother passed peacefully away and, as his next of kin, all the arrangements were my responsibility and it was a real eye-opener to realise just how many arrangements there are to be dealt with.

Mr E.A. Poe was known to enjoy a drink or two and he possibly visited at least one "gin joint" in his life where he may have encountered a blackbird. Well, anything's possible! Perhaps the raven quoth more than "Nevermore"! Perhaps, not having an original thought in his tiny brain, he had to borrow from the experts - in this case the screenwriters of Casablanca!! So apologies to Humphrey Bogart and the writers for shamelessly using their famous quote.
Image was Googled and altered. Background, also altered, by Irene Alexeeva.

  21. Marie, You are in my thoughts and prayers and I am so, so sorry about your brother. It must have been such I hard week. I cannot even imagine. I have only one sister and she is my best friend. Just Thursday night we had a long discussion about blackbirds (ravens and crows) and she enlightened me about some of their more gruesome habits (she, being a REAL English teacher, and not just a special ed one, is more learned than I). she was painting blackbirds on a box. Your Mr. Poe is delightful, if one can use that adjective to describe such a wonderfully macabre subject! I'll be thinking of you.

    Love,
    Kathy
