Tagalong Challenge - Vintage Tag

Congratulations to Mandy on the opening of her new challenge, Tagalong.  We have seen a lot of challenges come and go and it is so good to see a new one because we really need challenges to learn new tricks and improve our artwork, not to mention having somewhere to post it and finding many friends along the way.

The Three Muses Challenge - Artist Affirmation

This week Bill is asking us to illustrate what art means to us.  For me it is an escape from reality at least for brief moments.  Many thanks to Bill for giving us something to ponder on.

I have taken one of my collages featuring my own artwork  and added an "artist".  The ragged hearts and background papers are by Catherine Designs at After Five Designs and the lady is from e-vint.com (photo coloured from original black and white).

I have given this vintage lady (from E-vint.com) a steamunk chapeau using all manner of metalwork from Finecrafted Designs, Marta van Eck and Maya at Scrapbookgraphics. Brooch from Lorie Davison.

Take a Word - Warm Colours

I borrowed Mae West's face and an old photo of four bathing beauties in black and white.  I coloured them and added some blingy overpainting.  Background, frame and flowers by Lauren Bavin.

Thanks to Bev for an interesting and different challenge.  I have used an image from e-vint.com, coloured and overpainted.  The background is by Ztampf and a Photoshop brush provides the geometric lines.  (Many circles to be found!!)

This week's challenge is wide-ranging but all to do with the sea and its creatures.  I have stolen Botticelli's beautiful "Birth of Venus" to show the development of the swimsuit.  Picture Googled and overpainted by me.

Take a Word Challenge - PINK - Pretty in Pink

This week our theme is the colour pink.  I have used a vintage face as a template for shape and placement of features which I have altered, overpainting and adding "hair".  I also painted the dress.

This week our theme is INSECTS.  My Queen Bee includes a vintage face (altered) from my stash, overpainting by me to make the bee costume and some assorted vintage ads found on Google Images.

Take a Word Challenge - Memories

My memories of my mother are misty.  She died when I was in my early teens, a very long time ago!  I was her sixth and youngest child, born when she was in her forties.  A big surprise I'm sure. The photo shows her at age 16.  I have coloured the old black and white photo from a family album, adding background and overlays (credit to Rosey Posey).

This picture started off as a sepia photo from e-vint.com.  I coloured the lady and painted in the "flowers" and bowl and also the dress.  The frame and party hat are from Createwings Designs.

Three Muses Challenge - Where I live

Australia is a vast, mostly empty continent.  The large population areas all cling to the coastlines.  I live within walking distance of beautiful, white, sandy beaches at the edge of the Indian Ocean.  I can look out to sea and realise that the next landfall to the west is the island of Madagascar, 7,000 miles away (11,000km).  I would like to say that I love reclining in a giant shell, pondering the wonders of nature and wearing an amazing shell hat, but that would be a lie.  Well, we can dream, can't we?
