Cheeky Challenge - Mosaics

June has challenged us to create a mosaic which is a tough task.  The picture is from my archives - a background painted by me using ArtRage digital painting software, a transparent "brush" of Mona Lisa which I made from the famous portrait, a collection of interesting Photoshop brushes and finally a tile pattern overlay which I found in PhotoImpact software, one of the many digital art programs I have in my stash.  It's a bit "faux" but I hope it's near enough to being a mosaic.

Take a Word Challenge - COLOUR BURST

This week at Take a Word the theme is COLOUR BURST.  I painted a background of random splotches and splatters but I'm sure everyone will have their own ways of experimenting with bright colours.  I found a beautiful line drawing of two ladies which I converted into a Photoshop brush (transparency) and laid it over the background. The frilly skirts give a pleasing effect.  The drawing is a freebie from Graphics Fairy.  If you haven't been there, check it out, making sure to click on all the headings under  "Categories".

Digital Whisper Challenge - Mouse

This week at Digital Whisper the challenge is to feature a mouse.  I'm here to tell you all that I have a huge phobia when it comes to rodents.  Dead or alive I can't deal with them.  Perhaps that's why I've humanised Dame Marsha van Rodent-Pring who thinks she is mouse royalty.
The mouse comes from a Googled template of a line drawing.  I overpainted it using ArtRage digital painting software.  I made the box from a metallic background painted in ArtRage,

Three Muses Challenge - ABSTRACT

Thanks to Bev for an abstract challenge.  I love messing about using my ArtRage digital painting software.  Abstract lends itself to this type of artwork.  Everything painted by me.  The fish are meant to be in stained glass form.  Metallic paints used here to give some texture and depth.  Swirly background by Lorie Davison, Scrapbookgraphics.

Cheeky Challenge - Childhood

It's a little bit hard to accept that this is a vintage photo and it's of me!  I'm vintage.  I think I am 18 months or so.  Smocking was very big in those days.  Don't know why I needed a bib.  I gave myself a new background and some colour.  The bird is from Lauren Bavin and the flowers and backing are from Phu Tong.

Take a Word Challenge - SEWING

This week at Take a Word the theme is SEWING.  The background pattern was Googled.  The lady sewing is from Graphics Fairy.  I converted it into a Photoshop Elements semi-transparent brush and then coloured it.
If you read the small print you will see mention of a "mantua maker" which is the old fashioned description of a dress maker.  This is not an actual pattern created for Marie Antoinette.  Apparently, it has been designed for mothers to make a fancy dress costume for their daughters.

Sunday Postcard Art - Photograph

This week, Audrey would like us to use a photograph in our SPA design.  I have chosen a 94 year old photo of my parents who were married in January 1922.  They were both born in the 19th century.  I must have come as a shock when I arrived 18 years later, the sixth sibling, six years after the last. I have a wonderful treasury of family photos going back into the second half of the 1800's.  (Bits and pieces used to frame the photo are from Rosey Posey at Scrapbookgraphics.

Take a Word Challenge - GREEN

The song brings a tear to the eye of anyone who can claim Irish heritage (like me).  It is also a song which speaks for all the mothers who have sent their children off to war although it is said that it also referred to farewelling the mass emigration of the Irish to other countries, never to return.  The boy and background were Googled.  The song is known as "Danny Boy" and also "Londonderry Air". The lyrics were written by Frederic Weatherly.  The tune is from the traditional song "Londonderry Air".

Take a Word Challenge - Celestial

This week at Take a Word the theme is CELESTIAL so it's anything to do with the sky, the universe, the moon, the stars, the planets.  My picture was inspired by the song "It's only a paper moon" which is all about a world where nothing is real.  The muslin tree is by me.  Everything else from bits and pieces I've had on file for a very long time and I don't have the sources.

The Three Muses Challenge - Alphabet Soup

All my own work except the feet.  I painted a colorful background in ArtRage to which I added Photoshop brushes.  I then cut the dress and hat from the background and used my own painting of face and arms. Photoshop splatters were  applied to the black background.  Font filled with background.

Digital Whisper Challenge - Vogue

This week's theme "Vogue" made me think of Fifties Fashion and, of course, Grace Kelly, and of course the song from High Society - "Well, did you evah?" - Photo found on Google, background by Itkupilli.

Have you heard that Mimsie Starr
She got pinched in the Astor Bar
(Sloshed again, eh?) She was stoned
Well, did you evah?
What a swell party this is.
