Take a Word Challenge - COLOUR BURST

This week at Take a Word the theme is COLOUR BURST.  I painted a background of random splotches and splatters but I'm sure everyone will have their own ways of experimenting with bright colours.  I found a beautiful line drawing of two ladies which I converted into a Photoshop brush (transparency) and laid it over the background. The frilly skirts give a pleasing effect.  The drawing is a freebie from Graphics Fairy.  If you haven't been there, check it out, making sure to click on all the headings under  "Categories".

Digital Whisper Challenge - Mouse

This week at Digital Whisper the challenge is to feature a mouse.  I'm here to tell you all that I have a huge phobia when it comes to rodents.  Dead or alive I can't deal with them.  Perhaps that's why I've humanised Dame Marsha van Rodent-Pring who thinks she is mouse royalty.
The mouse comes from a Googled template of a line drawing.  I overpainted it using ArtRage digital painting software.  I made the box from a metallic background painted in ArtRage,

Three Muses Challenge - ABSTRACT

Thanks to Bev for an abstract challenge.  I love messing about using my ArtRage digital painting software.  Abstract lends itself to this type of artwork.  Everything painted by me.  The fish are meant to be in stained glass form.  Metallic paints used here to give some texture and depth.  Swirly background by Lorie Davison, Scrapbookgraphics.

Take a Word Challenge - Black and White

It's nice to go back to black and white once in a while.  It's this week's theme at Take a Word.  The lady is from e-vint.com (a great source of vintage images, sadly no longer operating). The flowers are from Birgit Kerr.

Cheeky Challenge - Childhood

It's a little bit hard to accept that this is a vintage photo and it's of me!  I'm vintage.  I think I am 18 months or so.  Smocking was very big in those days.  Don't know why I needed a bib.  I gave myself a new background and some colour.  The bird is from Lauren Bavin and the flowers and backing are from Phu Tong.

Take a Word Challenge - SEWING

This week at Take a Word the theme is SEWING.  The background pattern was Googled.  The lady sewing is from Graphics Fairy.  I converted it into a Photoshop Elements semi-transparent brush and then coloured it.
If you read the small print you will see mention of a "mantua maker" which is the old fashioned description of a dress maker.  This is not an actual pattern created for Marie Antoinette.  Apparently, it has been designed for mothers to make a fancy dress costume for their daughters.

Digital Whisper Challenge - Ladybug

This week at Digital Whisper the challenge theme is "ladybug".  My Ladybug has been created from a Googled ladybug, a Joanne Brisebois paper doll, the head of Louise Brooks, early film star, and a shadowed backing from Anna Aspnes.
