Mixed Media Monday - Enchanted

It is very easy for a child to be enchanted and what a pity it is that we lose that ability as we grow older.
Background and child (altered and overpainted) by Katie Pertiet, bird by Sausan, butterflies by Trish Jones, wings by Ruth Davis, net Googled.

The Three Muses Challenge - NATURE

The wonderful image (x 2) is from Terri Kahrs at Pringle Hill Studios. Thanks, Terri!!

Background, including floor, by Irene Alexeeva at Scraporchard and curtains (altered) by Fiddlette at Scrapartist.
The Googled fish began as plain, boring beige. I used my ArtRage painting software (in metallic paints) to give them a new look.

Collage Obsessions Challenge - Into The Mist

Indigenous people have suffered from the onrush of "civilization". Their traditional way of life has disappeared. Their cultures have been lost. The sad face on the man in the picture inspired me to think deeply about this subject, hence the barbed wire and the sea of words, just words around the picture, and the cave paintings which tell of better days. The man looks like a native American but the story has been repeated all over the world, especially in Australia.
ENLARGE PICTURE TO GET A BETTER VIEW OF THE SAD FACE.
Image from Collage Obsessions, background and barbed wire from Lorie Davison at Scrapbookgraphics.

4 x 4 Challenge - Spirit - "FREE SPIRIT"

Thanks for the challenge! The background paper, overlay and flowers are by Lauren Bavin, the
butterfly by Irene Alexeeva, the face from Suzee Que at Flickr and the body by Lorie Davison, overpainted and altered. The digital painting was done in ArtRage (a wonderful painting software program) which has a metallic paint - very useful in blinging up a picture. Check out the gold and red edgings in the larger version).

Sunday Postcard - Cupid

ENLARGE PICTURE TO READ NEWSPAPER CLIPPING.
I am a bit of a "bah humbug" when it comes to Valentine's Day so my postcard is just a wee bit cynical (well very cynical). Heart and background by Createwing Designs, man's face a Flickr-free-to-use image, jacket from a paper background and arrow by Irene Alexeeva, the rest by me. The cupid was Googled.

Theme Thursday - Flowers

Enlarge to see her lovely gold wings and outdated tattoo on her legs.
Thanks to Kelly for a nice challenge. To those of you who are waiting impatiently for the first signs of spring, we, in the Southern Hemisphere, are hanging out for autumn which is almost like a second spring to us. All plant life gets a real hammering during the long hot summer but, in autumn, when we might get a few showers and it is much cooler, the garden greens up, the roses especially flower profusely and all is well with the world.
The face is from a Suzee Que Flickr-free-to-use page. The body is by Irene Alexeeva at Scraporchard. The sunflower was Googled. Other bits and pieces from Weeds and Wildflowers.

Collage Obsessions - Longing

Thanks to Itkupilli and Elegia for the great challenge and beautiful image. I made a digital stamp/brush with the image and placed it over a background paper by Joanne Brisebois. The background and butterfly are by Lorie Davison at Scrapbookgraphics and the bridal couple partly obscured are from Tangie Baxter also at SBG.
PS - This collage is NOT autobiographical!! The only longing I do is wish I had listened to my dear old Dad who told me NOT to do it (get married that is).

Sunday Postcard - Cats

First of all, I have to apologize to Terri Kahrs (Pringle Hill Studios) for using her beautiful freebie in a less than respectful way. Sorry for that, Terri, but thanks for the freebie which I promise I will use with the real faces one of these days.
I have watched a couple of the many "Real housewives of ...." and, of course, such programs are full of cattiness!! Meeow.
Background by Fiddlette. Cats heads by Kubivet. Alterations by me.

Art Creations Friday - Picture from Rein

I think this little child is a boy. The lace would have us think otherwise but I have photos from old family albums of my own and very small boys were dressed in overblown tunic dresses, quite often with lace attached.
Thanks to Rein for the lovely photograph and to the ladies of Art Creations for the challenge.
I have recoloured the image and the backgrounds, bird and number tags are from a collaboration digital kit at After Five Designs (by Createwings aka Dawn van der Stoep and Catherine Designs).

The Three Muses Challenge - Birds of a Feather

My sulphur crested cockatoos have been altered within an inch of their lives. I have overpainted them and given them new legs . The ephemera comes from collage sheets by Lisa's Altered Art, the music was Googled and the lady bird's legs are by Fiddlette of Scrapartist.

Collage Obsession Challenge -A Pair

I love these beautiful old photos. The couple look like pioneers. The woman's face is thin and worn and weary and she is pitifully thin. She probably lived a life of very hard work.
The photo is from Elegia and Itkupilli with bits and pieces of scraps gathered from here and there - some by Lorie Davison at SBG.
