Mixed Media Monday - Wings

My good friend Bev is hosting a challenge at Digital Art Quirks - altered form of transportation, map and quote. It occurred to me that it fits into Monday's Mixed Media challenge so I hope I will be forgiven for posting it in two places. It is the first time I have done this. The background and motorcycle (altered) are by Lorie Davison at SBG. The heads (altered) are from Graphics Fairy. The quote is by George Winters (Quote Garden). The wings and ribbon streamers are by Irene Alexeeva at Scraporchard.

Sunday Postcard - Life is Good

Well, I couldn't go further for inspiration for a "life is good" theme than "Everything's Coming Up Roses" from the musical, "Gypsy.
The roses are my own photos. The face and body was painted by me but I have to admit that the eyes were Googled so are slightly more human than the rest of the lady. The shoes are by Irene Alexeeva. The gold alphabet is by Ina's Scrapart.
Great challenge!

Art Creations Friday - Misunderstood

Thanks for the great challenge. Image from the ladies at Art Creations Friday.

A Moo or Two - Yesterday

My mother was born in 1898 and this photo was taken when she was 18 in 1916. She had six children and I was the big surprise package, arriving in the early 1940's when she had reached her mid-forties. Sadly, I have only short memories of the yesterdays I shared with my Mum who died when I was in my early teens. When I think of "Yesterday", I always think of her.

Theme Thursday - Clowns/Circus

Thanks for the challenge, Kelly! My clown was Googled. The background is by Lorie Davison at SBG and the quote is from "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee.

Mixed Media Monday - Oriental

Nice challenge. My "Oriental" is an ATC. I started with a sepia drawing which I have overpainted and I added a Googled haiku (don't have the translation). The background is by Lie Phung and the bird cage by Fiddlette.

Artarazzi - Exotic Woman

When I saw this exotic lady, I knew she just had to have an exotic frame. I coloured her face slightly and used a lighting effect to highlight it (the face). I already had the photo on my files having downloaded it from Outsider-Artists (a freebie) so I will credit them. The background and elements are from freebies by Irene Alexeeva.

Gothic Arches - Vernal Exquinox

Of course, it is autumn here in Australia but a little bit of spring doesn't hurt anyone. Nice challenge. The "fairy" is my youngest grandchild (she is a year older from when I took this photo). I don't think I could persuade her to sit on a rose now!!

Sunday Postcard - Mothers

Happy Mothering Day to all those Mums, Mooms and Mams in the UK. We have to wait until May!!

Images from Maya at SBG, background from Fiddlette.

Art Creations Friday - Background

Thanks to Art Creations Friday for another lovely background. I love the colours in this one. The photo is of my mother and her dog "Major". He must have been a huge animal as he is bigger than her, at age 12. This is not trick photography!! I have extracted the two of them from one photo.

Mixed Media Monday - Colours of spring

Nice challenge. I have to do this "by ear" because it is autumn here in the southern hemisphere but, in my part of the world, still summer according to the thermometer.
The quote is by Hal Borland. The background, flowers and butterfly by Irene Alexeeva.

Sunday Postcard - Africa

I always find country themes difficult for some reason so I ended up with this "fun" postcard. The three heads were Googled but everything else has been painted by me.

Gothic Arches - Mother and Child

Nice challenge! I have selected two vintage images and given them bodies by using my digital freehand cutting tool to draw the shapes on background papers and then i have cut and pasted onto the template. I added a few hand drawn touches. I guess it is a different way of making a collage. The woman's image is from Art-e-Zine and the girl's from Outsider-Artist (freeby). The glitter is by Vera Lim, the brooch and hair clasp by Bluebell Designs.

Art Creations Friday - Dreamy Girl

What a magnificent photo!! You lovely ladies keep coming up with the most spectacular challenge material. I have used an Art Creations original background (recoloured). The dandelion seeds are by Irene Alexeeva. The photo has been altered to add a skirt and some more flowers.

A Moo or Two - Jigsaw

Thanks for the challenge! I found a photo of a white jigsaw puzzle with only one coloured piece (the red). I painted in colour in other pieces and then stamped a digital brush of a Leonardo da Vinci painting over the puzzle and this is the result. All done digitally.

Theme Thursday - Flowers - Room with a view

Nice challenge today! Image of child from Outsider-Artist freebies, everything else from Kubivet freebies.

Mixed Media Monday - The Written Word

This is a great challenge because it makes us think. I guess when we first think of the written word we think of books but, of course, we use it in every aspect of our life. The image is from Art-e-Zine, the background and word art from Lorie Davison and other bits and pieces have been Googled. (4 x 4 format)

Gothic Arches - Fantasy

What a nice challenge! The girl's image is from Outsider-Artists freebies. Background elements by Lorie Davison. Glittery swirls by Vera Lim.

Sunday Postcard - Words of Wisdom

I love Google Images. For this card, I Googled "ugly chair" and up popped the ugliest chair I have ever seen!! I dragged out my uncle (by marriage) once again. He certainly didn't have good taste and I am still on the fence as to whether or not he was human!!
The colorful alphabet used is by Sausan.

Art Creations Friday - Baby Koala

Thankyou to the lovely ladies at Art Creations for yet another wonderful photo to work on. I have put the girl in an Australian background (my own photo). She has been changed (a little!) and she is holding a baby koala (koalas are not bears but marsupials). There is an Australian joke question which is "How much can a koala bear?"
The frame and eucalypt leaves are by Flergs and the legs are by Robyn England.

A Moo or Two - Fruit and Vegetables

Anyone who likes watching old movies would know about Carmen Miranda the TuttiFrutti lady who wore spectacular headgear made from fruit etc. She featured in some awful, overblown musicals but she shone as the ever-smiling and energetic singer and dancer. So, when I saw the theme for this week I thought of Carmen. who I have called "Carmen Pear-anda" (ouch, sorry).

Carmen's image was Googled and the fruit and vegetables are from Jen Ulasiewicz.

Theme Thursday - Birds, Nests, Eggs.

This is a 4 x 4. Bird and background by Ztampf and nest elements from Sausan.
The eggs are from Graphic Fairy.

ATC Burdens of the Responsible WOMAN

This is an ATC I made for a challenge at Flickr which is based on the work of famous artists - this time James C. Christensen who paints very whimsical pictures. His work was called "Burdens of the Responsible Man" so I reversed the gender!! There are lots of bits and pieces from here and there but I have to credit Kubivet, Irene Alexeeva, Lorie Davison, Lisa's Altered Art for baby image and Outsider-Artists freebie for woman's image.

Mixed Media Monday - Time

Thanks for the challenge, Heather. Background and clocks by Lorie Davison, digital stamps of women by 500ml.

Sunday Postcard - Once upon a time (beware the toad)

Once upon a time, a young Australian girl met a frog, possibly a very nice frog. Sadly, over the years she discovered that this "frog" was a venomous cane toad. Sad but true. Ah, the blog challenges are great places to get rid of some angst.
The image (of girl) is from Outsider Artist freebies, the frog/toad, castle and background are by Irene Alexeeva (Scraporchard).

Gothic Arch - Pink and Brown "Transparency"

Had some fun with this one. The image is by Tangie Baxter and the acrylic bits and pieces are
from Bluebell Design.
